Workflow

Blender to Unreal Engine, without the FBX export loop.

Model in Blender, export an FBX, import it into Unreal, fix the scale and pivot, reassign the materials, look at it in the level, and go back for the next tweak. Venom Bridge Link replaces that loop with a live link: your Unreal level opens in Blender, and every change travels both ways while you work.

The export loop, and what replaces it

A Blender to Unreal round trip by hand means exporting, importing, fixing scale, rotation and pivots, re-assigning materials and re-importing textures, every time something changes. It is slow, and it puts a wall between where you model and where you see the result.

With Venom Bridge Link you connect once. Unreal's level appears in Blender at its exact transforms, and from then on Blender is a live editor for it: move, model, paint and sculpt, and Unreal follows while you drag. Change something in Unreal and Blender follows.

How to set it up

  1. Copy the VenomBridgeLink and VenomBridgeLinkFoliage folders into your project's Plugins folder and start the Unreal editor.
  2. In Blender, Edit → Preferences → Get Extensions → Install from Disk… and pick the venom_bridge_link zip.
  3. Open your level in Unreal. In Blender press N, open the VenomBridgeLink tab and click Connect to Unreal.
  4. Start the free trial or enter your key under Setup → License. The level arrives in the collection Unreal: <Level>, and Shift+A adds straight into Unreal.

Scale, axes and units are handled for you

Unreal is left-handed, Z-up and in centimetres; Blender is right-handed, Z-up and in metres. The link converts every position and rotation both ways, exact to 0.001 cm, including lights and cameras. There is no unit scale to set and no rotation to fix after an import.

What travels, both ways

  • Static meshes, lights, cameras and Blueprint actors, with moves, copies, renames, folders and deletes
  • Materials and textures, including live texture painting and Exact Materials
  • Landscapes: exact heights, paint layers and grass
  • Foliage and instanced meshes, Geometry Nodes scatter, curves and text, Blueprint splines
  • Rigs and animation as Skeletal Mesh actors
  • The viewport camera, with View Sync

Questions

How do I get Blender models into Unreal Engine 5 without exporting?

Connect Blender to the level that is open in Unreal with Venom Bridge Link. Anything inside the level's collection in Blender is live: new objects become actors, and edits reach Unreal while you work. You never export or import by hand.

Does it still use FBX files?

Under the hood, meshes travel as GLB or FBX through the project's Saved folder, but the link does it for you, only re-sends what changed, and material values and moves travel without any file at all.

Is it one-way like an exporter?

No. Edits made in Unreal come back to Blender too: actors you add, move, rename or delete, lights, cameras, materials and terrain.
